In this work an overview of the ultimate meanings of artistic activity which are pointed in psychology and aesthetics is represented. It contains definitions connected with nature of art and catalogue of its functions. Also there are goals, values, ideals, art and artist’s mission for-mulations. In fact in this work an important element of the Stanislavsky system – a concept of “super-objective” – is developed. That’s why in this article author’s definition of artist’s super-objective (i.e. musician, writer, dancer and painter) is offered. It contains combining theoretical correctness and practical effectiveness of the definition at the same time: super-objective must help a searching artist (both young and mature) to solve his professional tasks successfully. According to the author, in this definition well-known statement by Fyodor Dostoevsky “Beauty will save the world” is developed and extended. Argumentation shows why each position of formulation is entered.
